ARTIST STATEMENT
When I work with 2D mediums such as Painting, it reminded me that every stroke and colors hold a meaning that leads to the final outcome of the piece. I begin with visualizing an image on how I would like my feelings and emotions to be expressed in my work, such as happiness, sadness or feelings that are overwhelmed. I would express it through my choice of colors and the intensity of strokes when working with my mediums, such as having harsh strokes and shadows
When my work is going well, I am filled with a sense of achievement and joy, knowing that it is the kind of feeling I would like to present to the audience. When people see my work, I’d like them to have a certain feels and understanding of the meaning behind every stroke and color and what inspired me to do it in such a way.
ARTIST BIO
Based in Singapore, Sabrina is currently a final year student pursuing a diploma in Fine Arts in LASALLE College of the arts. Sabrina decided to improve and develop her interest for art to a deeper level based on her experiences and achievements for art as a student.
She enjoys the processes of creating art forms with 2D mediums such as paints, pastels, charcoal and markers to create colours, textures, and strokes as it gives her a sense of freedom to fully express herself through the piece of work. Her goal is to let her feelings and emotions out and create works based on her feelings, and aims to have an outcome of an ‘abstract’ like form.
Sabrina feels that everyone looks at art at a different perspective, in such a way where certain individuals may feel that abstract is something that is unclear and messy while some may think it is a way of expressing art. The overall outcome of art is subjective based on every individual and her objective is to allow every viewer to have their own thoughts and understanding on why and how she creates her work that speaks about her as an artist.
